Obituary for Ruth Bernice Davis

Evangelist Ruth Bernice Davis was born the eighth child to Ellis & Eliza Davis, Sr. on June 12, 1954 in Franklin, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents.

She was born and raised in a loving family with 13 siblings. She graduated from Monroe County High School and after graduation she worked at Vanity Fair Mill to help support her mother and father. She then decided to move to Mobile, AL with her older siblings to work and start a life of her own.

Upon the death of her mother, she returned home with her two girls, to assist her father in raising her younger siblings. However, God had another plan for her life and it was at that time she joined Wainwright Church of God in Christ were she received the gift of the Holy Ghost, under the leadership of Elder Bradley.
She then moved back to Mobile and joined St. Paul Church of God Pentecostal as Missionary Ruth Davis. After being a faithful member to that organization, God led her to join the Mission Church of God Pentecostal under the leadership of her oldest brother Bishop Ellis Davis, Sr. where she served as a Teacher of the Gospel for many years. God used her to minister to everyone, but especially single mothers, which was her passion. She spoke at various events and she was known by her sound wisdom in the Gospel.
God then led her to join the Apostolic Temple the Synagouge of Christ under the leadership of Bishop Albert Lee Pettway until her passing, where she was ordained an Evangelist. She became affectionately known as Mother Davis. During her last years of ministry, God shifted her to not only speak with profound wisdom, but she brought laughter to the Body of Christ. She was full of life and she loved God’s people. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Shirley Mae Williams, two brothers, Bishop Ellis Davis, Sr. and Arthur Lee Davis.

On Tuesday, October 3, 2017, Evangelist Ruth Davis passed on from this life surrounded by her loving family and friends.
