Marilyn Valencia Roberts, a native of Mobile, Alabama, was born on June 24, 1957 and departed this life for her eternal home on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.

Her educational learning experiences started at Cedar Grove Academy, Mattie T. Blount High School (Class of 1974). Afterwards, Marilyn attended Bishop State Community College and graduated with an Associate Degree. She later attended Citadel Hope Bible Institute, where she became an Ordained Minister.

She was employed with the Mobile County Public School for many years. She retired from the MAWSS.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Calencia Renee’ Lucus; granddaughter, Ryleigh Grace Johnson; mother, Charley Mary Roberts; grandparents, Charley and Mary Ethel Roberts

She is survived by her loving and devoted son: Walter Lamar Johnson of Mobile, Alabama; granddaughter: Summer Lanae Johnson of Birmingham, Alabama; grandson: Torion Jakobe Johnson of Semmes, Alabama; one sister: Beverly ( Sherman) Wilkerson of Prichard, Alabama; aunt: Theresa Johnson of Detroit, Michigan; nephew: Louis (Regina) Mounger of Mobile, Alabama; niece: Princess LaVera Wilkerson of Prichard, Alabama; three special cousins: Emanuel (Debra) Roberts of Eight Mile, Alabama, Shelia Sipes of Detriot, Michigan, Clifford (Kim) Sanders of Lithonia Springs, Georgia. She also leaves behind two special ladies: Temeka (Violet) Palmer and Tristan Pettaway; god-daughter: Khelyn Mickles; two devoted caregivers: Louise Reed and Gloria Summers; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Samuel Chapel AME Church, 717 West Prichard Lane, Prichard, Alabama. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Cemetery, Theodore, AL.
