Johnny  Murray
Johnny Murray, born March 19, 1944 was a life long resident of Mobile, AL departed this life on February 7, 2018 at a local hospital.

He was a faithful member of the Little Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and he was also a member of the Male Chorus until his health began to decline.
Johnny was a member of the United States Armed Forces later receiving honorable discharge in 1967, after which he began a career as a Long Shoreman for the Alabama State Docks. He also became a member of the Local 1410 Union of which he served faithfully and worked hard for a total of forty years later retiring in September 2007.

He enjoyed fishing, taking walks, working within the church, visiting the sick, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary A. Murray; two grandsons: Michael Hunt and William Campbell.

Johnny leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of twenty-seven years, Susie Murray; three daughters: Pamela (Mitchell) Buskey Smith of Las Vegas, NV, Venice Williams and Veronica Hertz; six sons: Johnny (Joycelyn) Smith, Joseph (Tamisha) Smith, Freddie Smith, Michael (Angela) Jackson, Carlos Jackson and Kenneth Clark; two siblings: Celestine (John) Smith of Syracuse, NY and Freddie (Juanita) Murray of Mobile, AL; one sisterin-law, Ruth Stokes of Ocean Springs, MS; one brother-in-law, Ralph Campbell, Jr. of Mobile, AL; nineteen grandchildren: TaJonnee Hunt, Delisha Hunt, Krystal Hunt, Deleila Frison, Shantariaca Lindsey, Courtney Bush, Christian Tredwell, Joseph Smith, Jr., Michael Smith, Roderick Campbell, Tamara Campbell, Shannon Jackson, Tiffany (Jarod) Jackson, Talton Toatley, Nachikd (Ricky) Hopkins, Anthony Wallace, Asante Knight, Ashley Staten and Nedra Clark; fourteen greatgrandchildren; two great greatgrandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, devoted friend, Robert King; and his devoted church family; Deacons and Deaconess.

His remains will lie in state 1-8pm Friday, February 16, 2018 at Small's Mortuary, Mobile. AL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Little Welcome Missionary Baptist Church, 1516 Wolfridge Road, Mobile, AL. Interment will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in the Alabama State Veteran’s Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL
