Life Story for Bessie Pearl Williams (Thicklin)

Mother Bessie Williams was born January 22, 1931 in Farmersville, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lela Bell Thicklin and father, Broiley Thicklin; brothers, James Moorer, Robert and Eddie Thicklin; daughter, Brenda Williams; and son, Mitchell Williams.

Bessie was a devoted, kind, and loving mother to her children and a faithful wife to her husband, Myrtis. She accepted Christ at an early age where she was mentored by her mother, Lela Bell - to always do the right thing. With the life she lived, you would think that she was born without sin; but as we know, the bible says that we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Bessie would sit with her microphone on the front lawn teaching the word of the Lord; she went throughout the community praying for the sick and lost; she served as the church mother, Sunday school teacher, and prayer warrior for the Bay Minette Church of God in Christ for many years. She also served as District Missionary for the Belforest C.O.G.I.C. Bessie moved her membership to the Potter’s House Church, where she served as church mother and continued to pray faithfully every day at the eleven o’clock hour lifting up the name of the Lord. Her final exhortation to the Potter’s House Church was to continue with the eleven o’clock prayer.
Bessie loved flowers, singing, praying, encouraging her pastor, keeping her family together, cooking & cleaning, and sharing a smile with everyone she met.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband, Myrtis (G-Baby) Williams of sixty-five years who cherished and nourished her during her illness; sons, Leoance (Juanita) Williams of Mobile, AL, Myrtis (Victoria) Williams, Jr., Willard (Jackie) Williams of Bay Minette, AL, Lesley (Marvelda) Williams of Stockton, AL, Arnie (Nichelle) Williams of Wiggins, Ms, Jo Nathan (Sheletta) Williams of Gonzales, LA; daughters, Lela (Eugene) Butler of Southfield, MI, Annell (Albert) Reese of Saraland, AL, Lurneila (Nathaniel) Moore of Bay Minette, AL, Denice (Larry) Brown of Leavenworth, KS, Sharron (Danny) Stevens, Darlene (Ronald) Taylor of Bay Minette, AL; sixty-three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews and friends.
