Obituary for Ernest Smith
Mr. Ernest Smith, age 81, a native of Axis, AL and a resident of Stone Mountain, GA was born on July 5, 1936 to the parentage of the late Reverend Peter E. Smith, Sr., and the late Mrs. Marie Logan Smith. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
Ernest confessed Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized. In later life he was active in Beulah Baptist Church and Greater Piney Grove Baptist Church, both in Atlanta, GA. Ernest was married three times. His last wife was Minister Gloria Mickles Smith, who passed away in 2002.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Russell Tillman Smith, and Allen Marvin Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories nine children: Ernest, Jr., Gloria Jean, Jerry, Arnell, Bridgette, Peter, Jason, Michelle and his adopted daughter Jaunticka “Erica” Brooks Strawder; a loving, loyal and devoted aunt, Mrs. Mamie Logan Wilkins; four sisters: Brunetta Smith, Mrs. Rose (Clarence) Steward of Antelope, CA, Elaine Smith Hill and Cynthia Lamoise Smith; a loyal and devoted baby brother, Peter (Brenda) Smith of Atlanta, GA; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 12pm until the 2pm funeral hour in Small’s Mortuary Chapel, Mobile, Alabama. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery-Axis, Alabama.
