Mrs. Carrie Williams Valrie, was a native and lifelong resident of Loxley, Alabama. She passed on May 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her devoted children.

Carrie was the eighth of twelve children born to the union of the late Leslie and Carrie Williams. Carrie was united in marriage to the late Claude Valrie Sr., on May 15, 1948, and to that union was born eight children.
Carrie attended Baldwin County Training School. She joined Mt. Aid Baptist Church at an early age and served on the Usher Board until her health began to decline. She remained a member until her passing. Carrie was an Eastern Star of Evening Star Chapter #45 Daphne, AL.

Baking was Carrie’s special passion. She baked for a community of family, friends and even strangers. When you visited Carrie’s house there would always be something delicious to eat or a special dessert made with love.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Carrie Williams and her loving husband Claude Valrie Sr.; two sons Claude Valrie Jr. and James E. Valrie; one daughter-in-law Jewel J. Valrie.

She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Gloria (William) Fagan, Floria (Stan) Standifer, Delciena Valrie, Felicia (Rev. Len) Adams; two sons, Charles Valrie and Van (Sharon) Valrie; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Valrie; two sisters, Mary Calhoun and Emma Jackson; one brother, James (Shirley) Williams; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a special niece, Janet (Niecee) Salter; and a host of sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour at Mt. Aid Missionary Baptist Church, 9470 Samuel Jenkins Highway 90, Daphne AL, 36526. Interment will follow in Mt. Aid Church Cemetery, Daphne AL.
