Life Legacy


Elder Floyd Cooks, Jr. - affectionately known as "Claude", a resident of Mobile, AL, was born on May 2, 1932 to Floyd Cooks, Sr. and Mary Cooks. He was the second of twenty-four children. He lived most of his childhood in Spanish Fort, AL until the age of sixteen. He then moved to Steelwood (Stapleton, AL). Elder Floyd Cooks, Jr. moved his family back to Spanish Fort, AL and worked at ADDSCO Shipyard as a Crane Operator for 35 years. In his latter years, he worked as Security Personnel for Twin City Security where he was stationed at the Mobile DHR Building. Elder Floyd Cooks, Jr., 74 years of wisdom, went home to be with God on Thursday, January 18, 2007. Preceding his death was children, Flora Jean Cook and Roy Lee Milton; father, Floyd Cooks, Sr. and mother, Mary Brooks, sisters, Mary Smith, Corine Lewis, Rosie Chever; brothers, Henry Cooks, Ronnie Cooks; and granddaughter, Tyeshe Anderson- Cook. In his legacy as a hardworking man, a man of great strength and character, and obedient man to God, he leaves to carry on his memory; three sons, Bishop Dupree (Damita) Cook of Fairhope, AL, Raymond Cook of Mobile, AL and William (Melissa) Cook of Loxley, AL; two daughters, Shirley (James) Williams of Loxley, AL, Krissy Cooks of Mobile, AL; and stepdaughter, Nia (Charlie) Johnson of Mobile, AL; five sisters, Minnie Cooks, Clara Curry, Lena (Walter) Reed, Carolyn (Tony) Tucker and Henrietta (Billy) Broughton all of Cantonment, FL; five brothers, John Cooks of Mobile, AL, Jim (Vera) Cooks of New Orleans, LA, McClennon (Nellie) Cooks of Mobile, AL, Clifton and (Mickey) Cooks of Cantonment, FL, Ezekiel (Faye) Cooks of Daphne, AL and Monroe (Jean) Cooks of Spanish Fort, AL; thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, three god daughters, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary, Friday, January 26, 2007 from 1-8 p.m. and Saturday, January 27, 2007 after 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral hour at Nazaree Full Gospel Church. Interment in Mt. Aid Church Cemetery, Daphne, AL. Dignified and professional services are entrusted to SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 S. Broad St, Mobile, AL
