Mrs. Ellen R. Gamble, a native of Annie Manie, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away unexpectedly on March 22, 2012. She was a devoted member of the St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Pastor's Aid, a member of the choir and Missionary Department. She was a loving and devoted mother to her sons, Raymond A. Johnathan D. and Jeffery D. Hunter of Mobile, AL and Jerry D. (Dianne C.) Hunter of Montgomery, AL. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Valinda A. James (Alexander, Kianna, Aaliyah), Raymond, Reginald and Tina Williams of Saginaw, MI, Master LeAnthony Rogers; and Keyondra Hunter (Jeremiah). She is also survived by her sister, Danny D. Raby of Linden, AL and brothers, Herman Bridges and Walter James Gildersleeve, Detroit, MI, Thomas Bridges, Annie Manie, AL and Walter McKinley Payne, Baltimore, MD; two aunts, Eunice Michaels, Prichard, AL and Lucy E. Bridges, PineHill, AL and other sisters and brothers; a host of step-children, step-grandchildren, church family, nieces, nephews, a cordial ex-husband, J.D. Hunter, Sr., and a host of other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in state on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Small's Mortuary, Mobile, AL. Visitation will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour at St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, 661 South Broad Street, Mobile, AL.
