HATTIE MAE CLARK-ABRAMS

September 20, 1923 - June 19, 2012

Hattie Mae Clark Abrams exchanged this life for eternal joy on June 12, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 20, 1923 in Lower Peach Tree, Alabama to the union of the late Anderson and Corine Clark. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Elijah Abrams, Sr.; sisters, Maggie Grayson, Willie Dell Eager; brother, James Clark; stepson, Thurmond Abrams. Early in life she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at Bells Chapel in Lower Peach Tree, AL. After moving to Mobile she joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in February 1947 where she served as Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Baptist Training Union Teacher, Senior Choir, Missionary Society and Hospitality Committee. She was a faithful member for over 50 years. She retired from Hillhaven Convalescent home after 25 years of service. She was a faithful member of the Juliette Chapter #613 O.E.S. for many years. She leaves to cherish her memories a loving and devoted family; Yvonne (Larry) Jackson, Elijah (Karen) Abrams, Jr., Kaveni (Edward) Taylor; grandchil-dren, Tazan Washington, Kauron Abrams, Elijah Abrams III, Lauren Jackson, Brittany Abrams, Larry "Jay" Jackson and Michael Taylor; great grandchildren, Trey, Tayla, Kentrell, KaLara, Kaleb and Logan; brothers, Robert (Clayouida) Clark; Benjamin (Gennieve) Clark and Charles Morrissettte; sister-in-law, Betty Clark; Merta Reid (mother of Elijah III and Brittany); and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; devoted friends, Ms. Dorothy Johnson, Floyd Brown, and a very special friend, Cody Dukes. Special thank you to Odyssey Hospice and caretaker, Darlene Gibbs. Her remains will lie in state Monday, June 18, 2012 from 1pm until 8pm at Small's Mortuary, Mobile. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 12 noon until the 1:30 p.m. Eastern Star Burial Ceremony followed by the 2pm funeral hour at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1012 Adams Street, Mobile, AL. The interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, Mobile, AL.
