Obituary for Melvin Douglas Johnson

Melvin Douglas Johnson, Sr. was born March 11, 1945 and passed away on October 9, 2018. He was born to the late Viola Blake Johnson and Carey Johnson, Sr. in Mobile, Alabama.
He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and a proud Retired Veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Melvin was affectionately known as “Green Man.” His
hobbies included golfing, fishing, hunting and watching his
beloved Dallas Cowboys. He worked for many years in the
Golfing Industry.
He is preceded in death by his three brothers: Carey Johnson,
Jr., Robert Johnson and Larry Johnson.
Melvin is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Esther Johnson; devoted daughter, Vanessa Vaughn; devoted son,
Melvin Douglas (Danielle) Johnson, II; four grandchildren: Brianna Vaughn, Christopher Vaughn, Michael Johnson and Myles Johnson. Also survived by his sisters: Mildred J. Foster, Margaret J. Sellers and Rose Mary J. (William)
Washington; his brothers: Curtis, Reginald and Leslie Johnson; his aunt, Mary B. Jones; sisters -in -law: Victoria
Barker and Judith (Demetrio) Esteriany; brothers -in -law: Luis Grandisonn and Franklin Scruggs, Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
