Mrs. Aleathia Lucretia Lang Phifer, born January 13, 1947, a native and lifelong resident of
Mobile, Alabama, exchanged life for eternity on February 6, 2023 surrounded by loved ones and
friends. Mrs. Phifer was affectionately known as ”LeLe” to those who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Phifer confessed Christ at a young age. She was a lifelong member of Stone Street Baptist
Church where she served as a member of the Missionary and Matrons Auxiliaries, the William-
Shipman Guild, Mass Choir, Sunday School teacher, and Girl Scout Troop volunteer. She later
united with Sweet Pilgrim Baptist Church where she was an active member and volunteer until
her death. She graduated from Central High School in 1964. Mrs. Phifer was a faithful class
member who supported and participated in reunions and other events, including the annual
Central Alumni weekend. She received an associates degree from the Mobile Branch of
Alabama State College “The Branch”. She also received a bachelor's degree from Alabama
State University in 1968. After college, she worked several jobs including Circuit Court Clerk in
Mobile County. She later pursued a career in education at Carver State Technical College, and
worked as a Secretary and Substitute teacher. She also worked as a volunteer with the GED
program. When Carver State Technical College became Bishop State Community College-
Carver Campus, she worked as Secretary of Development, Secretary of Curriculum, and Media
Assistant. She retired from Bishop State Community College-Carver Campus as a Media
Specialist/ Librarian after 32 years of service.
Mrs. Phifer was preceded in death by grandparents Mr. William Roe Lang, Mrs. Leonice
Lang, Mr. Wilford Wicks, and Mrs. Maude Wicks Rodgers; parents Mr. Marion J. Lang Sr.
and Mrs. Edna Wicks Lang; one brother Mr. Marion J Lang Jr.; one sister Mrs. Ardrianne
Lang Adams; and three nephews Mr. Spencer Adams, Mr. Sellywn Adams, and Mr.
Frederick Gardner, Jr.
Mrs. Phifer leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving and devoted husband of 54 years

Stockbridge, GA; two loving and devoted daughters Ms. Auriel L. Phifer of Mobile, AL and Dr.
Andria (Jamie) Walker of Houston, TX; seven loving grandchildren Ryan Phifer Jr. and Alayshia
Phifer both of Montgomery, AL, Angel Hunter of Mobile, AL, Roman Phifer of Stockbridge, GA,
Jayden Walker and Alyssa Walker both of Houston, TX, and Aliyah Leflore of Mobile, AL; two
loving brothers Mr. Llewellyn (Lorraine) Lang and Mr. Johnathan Lang both of Savannah, GA;
one loving sister Mrs. Averyll (Roderick) Williams of Mobile, AL; one devoted godsister Mrs.
Gertrude Rasberry of Mobile, AL; two devoted goddaughters Mrs. Brenda Bonner of Atlanta, GA
and Ms. Theresa Mosley of Mobile,AL; one devoted friend Ms. Gloria Beverly of Atlanta, GA;
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
