Obituary for Alfuther Fay Carr Cobb

Alfuther Fay Carr Cobb was born on March 28, 1951 at the University of Alabama- Birmingham, Hillman Hospital to Mary Lee and Frank Will Carr, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert L. Nelson.
Fay grew up in the Zion City community of Birmingham. She was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Zion City. She attended Milton Sears Elementary School and also a member of the 1969 graduating class of Carol W. Hayes High School. She left Birmingham with her sister, Amanda Kay, to attend Tennessee State University, Nashville, TN in
the fall of 1969, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Social Work Degree in 1973.
Fay moved to Detroit, MI and worked in the State of Michigan, Department of Human Resources as a case worker and unit supervisor. After 15 years with the DHR- Michigan, she received disability retirement.
Fay felt God’s call on her life to deliver messages of hope, healing and recovery for those who were disadvantaged, disabled and disenfranchised. This led her to travel to Dallas, TX, Atlanta and Columbus, GA. In December 2006, she moved to Daphne, AL to live with her sister, Amanda Kay and brother-in law. She lived in the Mobile Bay area for the last 14 years of her life.
Precious memories of Fay will be cherished and honored by her son, Anthony Cobb; sisters Amanda Kay (Frederick), and Anita Yvonne Rosser, and brother, Frank Will Carr, Sr. (Carlene) both of Birmingham; sister-law, Gladys Nelson, Oxon Hills, MD; nieces, Mary Fatima Nash, Birmingham, Robin Nelson, Walldorf, MD, Johanna K. Outlaw, Zebulon, NC and Rashida A. Outlaw, Fredericksburg, VA; nephews, Frederick Nash, Birmingham, Gary Nelson (Colette), Snellville, GA, Reginald Nelson
(Bridgette), Walldorf, MD and Ahmed A. Outlaw (Nyree Dawn), Montgomery, AL and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews.
