Alphonse Truman Horace, Sr.
January 23,1949- January 17, 2020


Alphonse Truman Horace Sr., (Pookie) 70, of Mobile, Al (Down the Bay) transitioned peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020 with family by his side. He was a devoted and long-time member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was baptized and received his First Holy Communion, and Confirmation at St. Peter Claver Church of Mobile.

Alphonse Horace was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army with an honorable discharge and distinguished honors- “National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 DVC; Vietnam Service Medal, and One Overseas Bar.”

He was a 1967 graduate of Williamson High School; retiree of the United States Postal Service of 36 years; a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Horace & Marie C. Horace and grandbaby Kylen D. Horace.

Mr. Horace leaves to cherish his memories with children: Cynthia M. Horace (Ramos), Marlon D. Horace, Alphonse Horace Jr., Shanna N. Horace, Allan T. Horace and Ashley M. Horace; siblings:
Verna Malone, Viola Robinson, twin-brother-Alfred-“Maine” (Bessie) Horace, Raymond “Bubba” Horace Sr., Sandra (Terrell) Parrot, Eula (John) Bryant.
Aunts: Gloria Rankin and Grace Williams.
Grand-children: Alicia Causey (Aaron Causey), Victor Castro III, Destiny Ramos, Marlon Horace Jr., Martayvia N Horace, Tylar Horace, Malakhi Horace and Mekhi Horace.
Great-grandchildren: Cameron Ramos, Aaron Causey II and Madison Causey. And a host of nieces (devoted niece L’Tonya Horace Harold), nephews, and cousins (devoted cousin-Sybil Thomas Rankin) and many relatives & friends (devoted friend-Michael Cook).
