Obituary for Alvin Smith Jr.
Mr. Alvin Smith Jr. was born to the late Voncile B. Smith and Alvin Smith Sr. on October 26, 1959, & he departed this life on April 13th, 2022. He was a registered nurse and practiced nursing in hospital settings for over 25 years. Alvin is survived by an ex-wife Carlesia Smith, 5 children, Torrance, Carle’, Gretchen, Brigitte and Natalie Smith. He is also survived by three brothers, Andre’ (Gilda), David (Donna) and Steven Smith. Two grandkids, Kaitlyn Smith and (Averie Aurora) on the way from youngest daughter Natalie Smith. Nephews, Brandon, Andre’ II, David and Andre’ III Smith and niece Davynn Smith.
Alvin graduated from McGill Toolen High School in 1978, where he was listed as one of the outstanding chess players in the Chess Club. He subsequently graduated with a BS degree in Psychology from Xavier University of New Orleans. Alvin later completed a nursing degree from Mobile College. While at Xavier University he pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and leaves behind many close friends and fraternity brothers. His closest life-long friend of 45 yrs (4th Brother) & fraternity brother is Eric Alexander other close fraternity brothers are Eddie Clemons, Andre Buck & Dr. John Adams. He leaves behind 2 other special friends, Mila Diaz and MarTina Newhouse whom he met while living in California for a number of years.
