Obituary for Amanda Louise Scott

Amanda Louise Scott, affectionately known as “Mandy” to family and friends, but “Head” by her beloved husband, a resident of Mobile, Alabama was born July 5, 1953 in Thomasville, AL to the late Corllis Lee Burroughs and Ophelia Davis, but raised by her aunt, the late Revonia Williams. Amanda Louise Scott was a true renaissance woman of her time. She pursued many things in life such as a career in welding, gaining employment with Ingalls Shipyard and Alabama Maritime until she later decided that there was more to her life devotion. Family was a key element in Mandy’s life. She became known as “Mrs. Mandy, the Candy Lady of Alabama Village. Her love for her family and community was spread abroad throughout Mobile County. There was never a family reunion or gathering that Mandy did not attend and make her presence known. She could be found surrounded with conversation and laughter from family members and friends longing to be in her midst. She was truly the life of the party. Although she lived a fulfilled life, it was not until she met and married Johnnie Lee Scott Sr., the love of her life on February 20, 1970, that the real story begun. Although Amanda was a lifeline to her family and friends, she did not overlook her own personal lifeline in Jesus Christ. She accepted Him at an early age and became a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Julius Seals, by way of her uncle, the late Deacon Ellis “Uncle Red” Young. On April 10, 2021, Amanda took a change in pace, with no grand exits or theatrical words, but with grace and stillness, she peacefully transitioned from this life of labor and tasks to eternal life of victory and righteous reward. Mandy knew that this day would eventually be. The “Strugglin’ Lady” would no longer have to sway with the days to come, but forever shine like the diamond she was. Amanda was preceded in death by her parents, her aunt, Revonia Williams, brothers, William Henry Davis, Johnny Earl Davis, and Terry Lovell Burroughs, sisters, Willie Pearl Prichett and Thelma Jean Davis.
