Amy Ely-Thompson - A native of Barlow Bend and a residence of Chicago, Ill was born June 18, 1943 and departed this life on Monday, January 26, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parent's Joe and Pearlie Ely, three brothers: Issac, Hilton, Maxie, and one sister, Claretta Ely-Murphy. Amy leaves to cherish many wonderful memories her husband, James (Jim); daughter, Michelle (Keith) Martin, Stone Mountain, GA; two step-children: Minon and Adrian (Brenda) Thompson, Phoenix, AZ ; six grandchildren: LaKeith, Zecheiah, Brittney, Kammeron, Brandon, and Joycelyn; two great grand children: Keith and Keilyn; five sisters: Essie B. Goodwin, Eteria (Columbus) Peoples, Barlow Bend, AL; Mattie L. Robinson, Mobile, AL; Josephine (Charles) Waterford, Joplin, MO; Veria (J.D.) Ely, Chicago Heights, IL; five brothers: Charles M. Ely, Louis V. (Gloria) Ely, Ira Ely, Mobile, AL; Willie (Janice) Ely, Foley, AL; Joe L. (Linda) Ely, Detroit, MI; Melvina Ely (a special family member) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Her remains will lie in state on Monday February 2, 2009 at Small's Mortuary from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2009, in Barlow Bend, AL at James Chapel Baptist Church until the 1:00 p.m. funeral hour. Interment will follow in the James Landing Cemetery in Barlow Bend, AL. Funeral arrangements will be provided by Smalls Mortuary 950 S. Broad St. Mobile, AL.
