Obituary for Bessie Southall Watson

Mrs. Bessie Rose Southall Watson, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, was born September 25th 1939 to the union of Lutee Cox and Andrew Smith departed this life Saturday, June 15th, 2019 at Covenant Care Hospice-Providence hospital.
She graduated from Central High School and obtained her Bachelor and Master’s degree from Alabama State University. She was an elementary educator for 33 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Benjamin Watson, her parents Lutee Cox and Andrew Smith, her three sisters Minnie Southall, Dorothy Southall, Gloria Jean Southall, her only brother Michael Southall and her best friend Barbara Fairly.
She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Shemika Watson ,Mobile, AL; one son, Maurice Watson , Cincinnati, Oh; eleven grandchildren, Alize (devoted) Watson, Courtney (devoted) Watson, Clarence (Cameron) Irby, Adrianne Watson, Arianna Watson, Shiloh Watson, Skylar Watson all of Mobile, AL; Miranda Davis of Milwaukee, Wisc; Laiyonna Wilcox, Laiyaria Wilcox, Jaclynna Harris all of Cincinnati, Oh. A sister Lydia Willis of Mobile, AL; three godsons Sam Parker, Keith Watson and Terrance Watson; As well as a host of friends and relatives. The visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. funeral hour at Sunlight District Auditorium, Prichard, AL. Interment will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort.
