Obituary for Betty R Sims

Mrs. Betty J. Williams Sims entered heavenly rest on Friday, May 8, 2020. Betty was born on November 24, 1940 in Mobile, Alabama, the second child of the late Mrs. Ella Louise Singleton Byrd. She was a faithful member, until her illness, of Union Missionary Baptist Church in the Historic Plateau-Africa-Town Community. She was educated in the Mobile County School System and graduate of Mobile County Training Highschool (MCTS), Class of 1959. Betty was a Christian Missionary faithfully serving members of her church, family, and friends. She enjoyed over twenty-years of dedicated service as Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Leah Chapter #33. She was a retired Teacher’s Aide with the Mobile County School Board.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Mrs. Ella Louise Byrd, adoring husband, Mr. Andrew Williams Sr., big sister Mrs. Inza Faye Albert, and precious daughter Mrs. Andretta Robinson Callier.
She is survived by her loving son, Mr. Andrew Williams Jr., ex-husband and dearest friend Mr. Carl Sims and daughter, Carla Sims of Temple, TX, five grandchildren, Mrs. Raven (Byricus) Johnson, Washunda Jade Robinson, Andrew Callier, Lillian Callier and Ashytn Williams; five great-grandchildren all of Mobile, AL; her dearest Uncle Julius “Bigone” Singleton of Dallas, TX, aunt Mrs. Antoinette Singleton of Plateau, AL, three nieces, a nephew, and a host of cousins of the Singleton-McSwain Family, dear friend Mrs. Dorothy Hall Ealy and other special friends.
Homegoing Celebration Services will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Derrick Tucker, Officiating, 506 Bay Bridge Rd., Mobile, AL 36610.
