Obituary for Bettye Williams Smith

Bettye Jean Williams Smith was born to George Williams and Barbara Williams in Daphne, Alabama on June 12, 1946. She departed this life on December 12, 2013 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital surrounded by her family. Bettye confessed to Christ at an early age as a member of Mt. Aid Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. After graduating from Central High School in 1965, Bettye continued to be active in her class activities. She continued her studies at Alabama State University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. Her career began with the State of Alabama and transitioned to Bishop State Junior College from which she retired in 2010. Bettye attended Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church; as her health permitted, serving as a longtime dutiful Church Secretary and Usher. She is survived by her daughter, Justica Turner -Agyemang of Richardson, TX; son, Emanuel (Paulette) Dotch of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Emanuel Dotch III, Amaya L. Dotch, Bryson Daniel of Mobile, AL and Jaden B. Agyemang of Richardson, TX; one brother, Quentin Moore of Sacramento, CA; two aunts, one devoted Emory Jean Smith of Mobile, AL and Anna Williams of Daphne, AL; a host of other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in state on Friday, December 20, 2013 from 1pm until 8pm at Small?s Mortuary, Mobile. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church 961 Lyons St. Mobile, AL.
