Obituary for Bishop Tyson Johnson

Bishop Tyson Johnson was born in Lower Peach Tree, Alabama on December 18, 1939 to Ernest and Ola Mae Johnson. He was a resident of Mobile, AL for many years.
He departed this life in USA Hospital on Thursday, January 28, 2021.
He was employed at the Alabama State Dock 1959-1982 ILA Local 1410 – Deep Sea.
He was ordained as a pastor by Bishop E.D. Davis; Church of God Pentecostal 818 Telegraph Road, Mobile, AL. He later started his ministry in Lower Peach Tree as a tent revival that led him to minister several churches starting with the Church of God Pentecostal 3010 Warsaw Street following, he started Turner Road Church of God Pentecostal 804 West Turner Road and later added St. Paul Church of God Pentecostal 1383 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue Mobile, AL. he also ministered in and started churches in Jackson, AL: Monroeville, AL Moss Point, MS and Prichard, AL. God used Bishop Johnson in a mighty way to lead many souls to Christ.
If Bishop saw a need for the people of God, he stepped into help be it a financial need, lending a hand or a ride. What a mighty man of God he was his purpose was to do the will of God and he would follow God’s word regardless of whom ever it was. He spearheaded many community outreach programs. Under his leadership St. Paul started a food pantry, fed the homeless on Thanksgiving in front of the church, established clothing drives, adopted and provided for families for Christmas and much more.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ola Mae Johnson; daughters: Janice Welch and Valaysia McGee; one son, Anthony Johnson; the mother of his children, Mary Benson; eight sisters and nine brothers.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving wife of twenty-five years, Mother Annie Johnson of Mobile, AL; nine sons: Tyson (Angie) Johnson of Eight Mile, AL, Arthur James (Charlene) Johnson of North Carolina, Kennedy (Daphne) Johnson, Alonzo (Psachal) Johnson, Vernard Johnson and Cortez Johnson all of Mobile, Alabama, Ruben (Paula) Franklin of Atlanta GA, Ketelby (Trayce) Franklin and Derrick Franklin of Mobile, AL; three daughters: Rubyne (Dante) Miller, LaShonda (Jarel) Thomas and Karlicia (Lavorgie) Burage of Mobile, AL; five brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, one devoted niece, Demetria Burgess, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; one Godson, Fredrick (Rico) Holmes.
