Obituary for Bobby Wayne Thomas

Bobby Wayne Thomas, Sr., a native of Mobile was born February 19th, 1946 and peacefully transitioned this life on Monday, October 11th, 2021. He was greeted at the heavenly gates by loved ones who preceded him in death - parents Mary Pearl and Geames James Thomas, wife Linda Diane Thomas, and son Henry Arlington Thomas. The heavenly reunion will also include siblings: Lucious L. Thomas, James Thomas, Nancy Thomas Crosby, Lugusta Thomas Williams, Margaret Thomas Gordon, Herman Thomas, Joe Thomas, and Richard Greg Thomas.

Upon graduating Cedar Grove High School, Bobby served in the United States Army, and after years of service, was united in marriage to Linda Diane Lewis. Of this union came five children and a devoted career as an esteemed Longshoreman at the Alabama State Docks, where he worked for over thirty years.

The next phase of his life was dedicated to spending time with family and indulging in the relaxation of retirement. He graciously shared his wisdom, knowledge, and humor with loved ones. These attributes will truly be missed by family who called him “Pop” and friends who knew him as “Suga Bob”.

The memories of “Pop” will be cherished by his children - Charles (Tiwanna) Thomas, Maurica Thomas, Bobby (Lawanna) Thomas, Jr., and William (Kimberly) Thomas, Sr. ; grandchildren - Lil’ Charles, Jere’, Kamil, Davion, Akil, Linda, Naheem, Aniya, William, Jr., Lauryn, Kristyn, and Cody; great-grandchildren - Dallas, Akia, Zevon and Ari; brothers - Jesse Hal Thomas and Hubert Thomas; sister - Shirley (Johnathan) Thomas Tate ; brothers-in-law - Israel Lewis, Wesley Lewis, Lester Lewis, Frank Lewis, and Chris Lewis; sisters-in-law - Lisa Curtis and Joycie Brown; devoted niece and nephew - Equilla Thomas and Calvin Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
