Obituary for Bridgett L Bolar (Jones)

Bridgett Legene Jones-Bolar

A lifelong resident of Mobile Alabama, born August 22, 1960, to the Late Virgil and Callie Jones Jr.

Bridgett was baptized at an early age at Cedar Grove Baptist Church and later united with St. Stephens AME Church. She served in many capacities including Church Secretary, Choir, and Women’s Missionary Society. Bridgett graduated from John S. Shaw High School. She went on to attend Alabama State University majoring in English. She also pledged the Beta Eta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Bridgett was a dedicated member of Team Alabama and participated in many transplant games around the United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Callie Jones, sisters Monica Ann Jones and Verdice Hodge, grandparents Flossie Carroll, and Virgil and Ruby Jones Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband Garry Bolar, brothers Terry (Leontyne) Jones Sr. and Timothy Jones, devoted aunts Clotee Holsey, Mary Fuller, and Lula Fuller, great uncle Rev. Clifford Kimbrough, great aunt Clara Collins. Devoted nieces and nephews Demarcus Hodge, Danielle (Brian) Hodge-Davis, Sade Jones, Tairris (Criss) Hill, Ericka (Lonell) Davis, Tavin (Stephanie) Johnson, Terry Jones Jr., and Kyra Ward-Gordan. Brothers in laws Charlie Hodge, John Leich, and John Bolar; and Sister-in-law, Bonnie Kemp. Many other relatives including her great nieces and nephews. A host of family and friends including Pastor Rosalind Amos and the members of St. StephenS AME Church, her line sisters, Mobile Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, The Alabama Kidney Foundation- Team Alabama, and John S. Shaw High School Class of 1978.

The Mobile Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will conduct the Omega Omega Service Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
