Obituary for Carlton "Indo" Williams

“A Life Well Lived”
Carlton Indo Williams
June 16, 1937 – January 19, 2019
On January 10, 2019 the Angel of God whispered, “come now and take your rest”.
On January 19, 2019 he answered the calling.

Carlton “Indo” Williams of Pascagoula, MS peacefully transitioned from this earthly realm on January 19, 2019, in the arms of his daughter, in Mobile, AL. He was born on June 16, 1937 in St. Elmo, AL as the youngest of 13 siblings, graduating in 1956 from St. Elmo High School where he was a football player and honor student. Following high school Carlton attended Dillard University, majoring in math, until he decided to join the military. Carlton retired from Ingalls Shipyard. His smile, gentle spirit, quick wit, loving heart, and spirituality, often reminding his loved ones to “remember the 10”, referring to the 10 commandments, will be greatly missed.

Carlton was affectionately known as “Indo” and never met a stranger. He had a radiant smile that brightened the day of whomever he encountered. Carlton loved people, and most importantly loved his family and friends. He was a loyal and devoted father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. Carlton was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Williams and Daisy Watson Williams; five brothers, Eddie, Curtis, Charlie Jr., Leon and Herman Williams; seven sisters, Pearl Gildersleeve, Annie McWilliams, Marie Lathan, Janella Williams, Mildred Hurd, Bessie Tolbert and Osa Wiley; one son, Carl Williams; and one grandson, Charles Horn.
