As the clock struck 7:12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, Catherine Olivia “Cat” Perry received her angel wings to fly away home to rest in the arms of Jesus. She was born August 19, 1937 in Mobile, AL.
She lived in the Maysville area for most of her life and was affectionately known and loved throughout the community as “Cat.” Shortly after graduation, she married her one true love, Arthur Lee (Cookie) Perry, Sr. To their union, three daughters and two sons were born. Cat and Cookie loved each other and remained inseparable for fifty-eight years.
For most of her life, Catherine was a wife, homemaker, and caregiver. She worked untiringly to provide loving care for her elderly parents, her sister, and her husband throughout their prolonged illness until their death. She was also a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was always full of fun and laughter. She could fill any room with her great spirit. There was never a dull moment with Cat. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She always welcomed everyone embracing them in a spirit of kindness filled with generosity and love.
Catherine is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Lee Perry, Sr.; her parents, James and Lethia Horace; her sister, Clarice Brown; and her two brothers: Walter and James Horace.
She leaves to cherish and mourn her memories, three daughters: Shelia Wells, Ethel Husband and Dianne Perry; two sons: Arthur Lee (Benita) Perry, Jr. and Calvin Perry; six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Willie G. (Brenda) Perry; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
