Obituary for Celestine G. Lambert

Celestine (Snig) Lambert was born on August 30, 1944 to Lee and Clara McGrue of Fairhope Alabama. Celestine was raised in Fairhope, Alabama along with her seven siblings. Celestine was educated in the Baldwin County public school system. After graduating high school, she married the love of her life, moved to Germany to support her husband in the military. After Germany, they were relocated to Washington, DC for a short time before relocating to Southern California.

Celestine was a spirited and feisty (fireball) of a woman who loved to spend time with her family. Always willing to help anyone and would give you her last. She loved to dance, listen to her gospel music and her favorite gospel group “The Mighty Clouds of Joy”. She loved her church (Christin Valley Baptist Church), when she was unable to attend church service, she did church virtually every Sunday with her daughters.

Celestine was employed by Omni Shoreham Hotel during her early years and retired from Marriott.

Celestine peacefully made her transition from this life on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Celestine was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Clara McGrue. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers Lee D. McGrue, Jr., and Augustus McGrue. She was survived by her children Reginal Lambert, Angela Watkins (Keith), LaClaudia Lambert and Robert Lawrence; siblings, Hellen Jackson (Mervin), Sarah Mitchell, Cre Newton (Willie), Zee McGrue and Elvis McGrue; grandchildren, Michael Simmons (Ashley), Reginal Lambert, II, Shantrice Lambert, Justin Lambert, Kierra Jordan (Derrick), Ronesha Welch, Triston Lambert (Lauren), Miles Lee, Devin Carter and Samirah Lawrence and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, special friend Lucy Watkins, friends, and church family.
