Obituary for Charity Louise Means (Barnes)

Charity Means was born November 24, 1928 to the union the late Felix and Surfronia Barnes. She departed this life June 21, 2019 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Means Sr., 4 sons Frank Means Jr., Arthur Eugene Means Calvan Sylvester Means Sr. and Vernon Means.

She leaves to cherish her memories one son James Means of Bay Minette, Alabama One sister Pollie Mae (James) Williams of North Carolina. 11 devoted grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, of which 2 precedes her in death Christian Hill and Deontae Mason and other relatives and friends.
Mother Charity Means accepted Christ at an early age.

She was a member of Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church of Bromley, AL. She later joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Henry Lamar. She faithfully served as youth Sunday school teacher, member of the gospel chorus, the benevolence committee, Pastor’s aid committee. Mother Means served in other capacities when and whenever she was needed. Mother Means served diligently until her health failed. Even as she was unable to attend Sunday services, she was always encouraging and spreading God’s word from her room.
