Obituary for Charnita Chambliss

Charnita Coleman Chambliss, a native of Prichard, Alabama, born August 4, 1952 to the union of Clay C. Coleman, Sr. and Lucy Mae Coleman, transitioned from this earthly life into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, January 20, 2020 at a local hospital, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Reverend Clay C. Coleman, Sr. and Lucy Mae Coleman. Charnita was a graduate of Mattie T. Blount High School Class of 1971, and attended Bishop State Junior College. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Holy Assembly Apostolic Church in Grand Bay, AL.

Charnita was known for expressing genuine love to everyone. She was the epitome of LOVE. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by: her husband of 43 years, Carl N. Chambliss Sr; one son, Carl N. Chambliss Jr.; one daughter Cherille (Kenny) Glover both of Mobile, AL; four grandchildren, Mariah Chambliss of Sacramento, CA, JaCarla Chambliss, Lileeanna Campbell and Carl N. Chambliss III all of Mobile; four brothers, Clay (Harriet) Coleman, Jr., of Columbus, GA, Lee (Retia) Coleman, Willie (Cynthia) Coleman both of Mobile, AL, and Wendell (Angie) Coleman of Helena, AL; nine sisters, Jeanette (Eddie) Peasant of Mobile, AL, Gloria Wilson of Hoover, AL, Marie (Eddie) York of Whistler, AL, Annie (Keith) Nelson of Hinesville, GA, Hattie (Marvin) Spencer of Grand Bay, AL, Darlene Davis of Columbus, GA, Carlene (Felix) Parker, Lucie (Andrew) Salter, and Edie (James) Bass all of Mobile, AL; one sister in-law, Rosalyn (Lenzie) George of Mobile, AL; three brothers in-law, Ronald (Mary) Chambliss, Reginald Chambliss both of Mobile, AL and Thomas (Keisha) Chambliss, Sr. of Raleigh, NC; three aunts Leanner Coleman Hunter of Mobile, AL, Rebecca Monley West of Birmingham, AL, and Milee Coleman of Mobile, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, one devoted friend Gladys P. Enels.
