Mrs. Claire Duncan Wormley graced this world on December 12, 1932, born to the late Clarence A Duncan, Sr., and Claire Rice Griffin in Mobile, AL. She bid farewell to this earthly journey on Thursday, January 18, 2024, finding solace in the embrace of the Lord.

Mrs. Wormley's life was woven with threads of resilience and accomplishment. A proud graduate of Central High School in 1949, she continued her pursuit of knowledge at Bishop State Community College, graduating in 1951. Not one to rest, she soared to new heights, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Alabama State University in 1953, and a Master of Art in Education from the prestigious University of Alabama in 1969.

Her commitment to education illuminated the lives of countless students in the Mobile County Public School System, where she dedicated over 36 years of her passionate service before retiring.

A fervent believer in Christ from an early age, Mrs. Wormley was a faithful member of State Street A.M.E. Zion Church. Her spirituality extended beyond the pews of the church as she became a beacon in her community, actively engaging in numerous civic organizations. Notably, she stood tall as the President of the Mobile Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated from 1982 to 1984. Her leadership continued to shine as President of the Kiwanis Club in 1990-1991 and the Carrie A. Salvant Federated Club from 2001 to 2005.

In her memory, she leaves a legacy of love carried by two devoted grandchildren, Shannon Monique Mose of Montgomery, AL, and Jonathan Dewey (Natasha) Mose, Sr. of Mobile, AL. Three great-grandchildren, Jonathan
Mose, Jr., Lauren Mose, and Zhelden Brown. Corinne Duncan, a cherished sister-in-law, Octavia Preston, a devoted
