Mr. Curtis Lee Bettis was born on July 1, 1960 in Gosport, Alabama to Martha Bettis.

Mr. Bettis attended Mattie T. Blount High School and graduated in 1978. He later assisted in coaching the track team at Blount High School—the school he loved dearly. Mr. Bettis joined the army in 1980. He bravely served his country, but later received honorable discharge. Mr. Bettis continued as a faithful resident of Prichard, Alabama until he transitioned on May 22, 2019. Mr. Bettis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen Clark and Queen Easter Bettis; and Jimmie King and Lula Mae King.

He leaves to cherish his life and memories, his beloved mother, Martha Bettis; his sister, Mary Bettis; and his nephew, Tremaine Bettis, all of whom reside in Prichard, Alabama. He leaves three aunts--one devoted, Mother Mary Williams. He leaves four uncles—one devoted, Jimmie King, Jr. He leaves a devoted godson, Deaundre Green. He leaves a devoted friend, Aaron Woods. Mr. Bettis also leaves a host of cousins and friends who will greatly miss him.

Those special moments of you will always bring a smile.
If only we could have you back for just a little while.
Then we could sit and talk again just like we used to do;
The fact that you’re no longer here will always cause us pain,
But you’re forever in our hearts until we meet again.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Living Waters Apostolic Ministries, 5229 St. Stephens Road, Mobile, AL.

Interment will follow in Gethsemane North Cemetery, Eight Mile, AL.

My heart and prayers go out to the Bettis family. I lived across from Curtis in Alexander Court and went to Blount High School with him. He had a bright smile and a friendly spirit. His humor and laughter was good for the soul. The last time I saw Curtis was a great moment. He actually brought his sister with him to say hello to me. We caught up on how each other was doing along with how friends from the neighborhood were doing.
It was great to see him, Ellamae and of course talk about his mom, whom he loved dearly. Even though I moved from the area the connection made while growing up in Alexander Court will always link us togther. He will surely be missed as a helpful son, devoted brother/uncle and an all-around, kind-hearted, good person . May his journey into his next season continue in the peaceful arms of the almighty. Much Love from Roxanne 💜
