Obituary

Daisy Mae Slaughter departed this life for her eternal reward on December 7, 2019 surrounded by family at the age of 83 years. Daisy was born on February 15, 1936 to Rena Elizabeth Woodard and Dave Hogan in Myrtlewood, AL. Daisy dedicated her life to Christ as a young child. She graduated from Linden Academy High School in Marengo County, AL. She shared her talents as a medical caregiver for many years. She was a member of Stone Street Baptist Church in Mobile, AL where she was a faithful servant and apart of the Shipman Williams Guild, Floral Club, Senior Usher board #2 (18yrs), and ushered for over 30 years, Adult Sunday School class #1 and the Mission Department. She was also a member of Mobile Federation Women’s Club, an organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. Daisy, known to her closest family and friends as Mae-Mae, had a true gift of gab. Everyone who encountered her would agree that she was never at a loss for words. She was always there to provide advice, encouragement and if anyone wanted honest delivery, Mae-Mae was indeed your lady. Daisy took a very special interest in providing guidance to her entire family, from the youngest to elder members. Daisy was more than a giver. She truly lived a life of service, full of diligence, spunk, class and dignity. Daisy proudly carried the family matriarch title. She has showered five generations with love and guidance. It is her family’s hope and prayer that her efforts, sacrifice and spirit will continue to guide, nurture and lead them for generations to come. Daisy is survived by two children, Ronald (Julie) Witherspoon Sr., and Sherilyn Slaughter. Eight grandchildren; Ronald (Erica) Witherspoon Jr., Rosalyn Witherspoon, Karshon (Eric) Donald, Jarrod Slaughter, Marquis Slaughter, Catherine Stevenson, Jamal Slaughter and RaQuez Slaughter. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
