Obituary for Damon Heningburg

Damon Michael Heningburg was born September 15, 1967. The son of the late Gerald Heningburg and the late Aline Huguley in Mobile, Alabama. Damon is second oldest of 5 children Alton, Gerald, Donielle and Kelley.
Damon accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and read the entire bible on his own at the tender age of 10.
Damon enjoyed fishing with his dad and cooking with his parents. Damon was a gifted athlete who ran track, cross country and played football. He was also a member of the Belleville choir.
Damon attended school in Michigan, he was a 1985 graduate of Belleville High School.
Damon was employed with Ford Motor Company for 33 years. Damon held many positions while at Ford including working in South Foam, Warehouse Attendant and Atlanta HVC. During his time with Ford he was elected the Vice President of UAW local 882 Region 8, and he traveled the US organizing companies to join the union. Damon carried his love for Christ to his job, they often had bible study Wednesday’s.
Damon married his childhood sweetheart, Lori Smith on October 22, 1993, to this union three phenomenal daughters were produced Saraya, Loryn, and Shayna.
Damon was well loved by all and never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his delicious dishes such as lasagna, red beans and rice, macaroni and cheese and shrimp creole. Damon was also a barbecue master and could often be found behind the grill of almost every event.
Damon’s hobbies include winning at the casino, traveling, cruising, collecting XO cognacs and cigars. He loved spending time with his family, couch coaching the Michigan Wolverines football team (GO BLUE) and singing loudly at 2 am with the karaoke machine. It was not uncommon for Damon to whip up a gourmet omelet at 3 and 4 in the morning.
On Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 2:30 pm Damon peacefully transitioned surrounded by his wife and three daughters. Damon is preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Londyn Amelia Rose Middleton.
Damon leaves to cherish his precious memory, his wife of 29 years Lori, 3 daughters Saraya, Loryn and Shayna. 1 grandson Camdyn. 4 siblings Alton (Pamela), Gerald (Shadara), Donielle, Kelley (Derrick). 12 nieces, 9 nephews, 7 great nieces, 3 great nephews and 1 goddaughter Ayva and a host uncles, aunts cousins and friends.
