Obituary for Dave Duwayne Leonard

Dave D. Leonard was born to the late Mr. Robert and Bessie Leonard on September 18, 1964 in Pensacola, Florida. He departed this life Thursday, January 7, 2021.
His early years as a child begin in Mobile, Alabama. Dave accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Green Grove Baptist Church under the headship of Pastor Dr. Bobby J. Young. Dave graduated from C.F. Vigor High School Class of 1984. After graduation he attended Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. He then transferred to Bishop State Community College and made his mark there as a superstar basketball player.
He was an employee of Scott Paper Company until closing. In 2004, Dave became a dedicated and dependable employee at Kimberly Clark Corporation. He was a skillful Level 2 Operator Technician and Process Leader until his departure. He was a member of the United States Steel Workers Local 1575 and served with great honor as their Vice President from 2018 until present. The Kimberly Clark family was his home away from home and he cared for them as such. Dave was a great humanitarian in his own private way.
Dave was a true patriarch of the Leonard Family after the passing of their beloved mother, Mrs. Bessie Leonard, keeping her memories dear to his heart.
He leaves to cherish his memories with both loving and devoted children: daughter, Shekenda Hill and son, Martez (June) McDuffie; grandchildren: Martez Jr, Martia, J’Von, Jaidyn, Gage, Gracyn, and Phoenix. He was also an exceptional father to his bonus children, Niyah Crawford, Zantavia (Timothy) Westerfield, Vinnesia (Marcel) Motley and Vincent Brown; his six sisters: Marilyn Leonard, Carolyn Leonard, Jeanette Leonard, Darkie Leonard, Doris Leonard and Belinda Jones all Mobile, AL; his three brothers: Robert (Sandra) Leonard of Houston, TX, Raymond Leonard of Pensacola, FL, Tony Edward of Lewiston, ME. His precious memories will also be cherished by a host of nieces and nephews.
Dave’s covenant relationship with his dearest friends was unbreakable. Their brotherhood began over fifty years ago, and it was truly his honor to call Jerry (Zelda) Edwards, Charlie (Lesia) Nobles and John Hall “Brother”. A host of other loving and caring relatives and friends; a significant other, Felecia Crawford.
