Obituary for DeKita DeShun Brown (Brown)

DeKita DeShun Brown was born on May 25, 1975, in Mobile, Alabama at 10:25pm to the union of Terry Brown and Stanley Poole. She departed this life on Saturday August 12, 2023.

She was a native of Mobile and currently resided in Vancleave, MS. She confessed Christ at a young age and became a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. R.E. LeSure. She went on to graduate from John L. Leflore High School earning an Advanced Diploma soon after she enlisted into the U.S Navy in 1993. She proudly served her country for 5 years throughout that time she traveled to varies states. After separating from the Navy, she obtained a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University of Washington D.C. With a love for poetry, she was inspired to publish her first novel entitled “Destiny Days” a semi-biography. This book was published in December 2002. She enjoyed shopping, dancing, taking care of her fur babies (Taye, Rowdy and Baby), writing poems and helping others. She impacted so many people she relentlessly did for others including her neighbors, strangers, different organizations (Ronald McDonald House & St Jude’s). She allowed her light to shine so that man could see her good work and they can glorify her father which is in heaven. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, niece and an all-around wonderful person.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Lethel (Buddy) Brown, Ida Mae (Sara) Brown, Rev R.E. LeSure and Willie Neal LeSure and Uncles Amorise Brown and Derrick Thomas. She leaves to cherish all her memories for her loving parents Terry Brown Coleman, Devoted stepfather Eddie Wilson and Stanley Poole of Mobile, Alabama. Two loving and devoted sisters Tiffany (James) Hives and DeCynda (Justin) Brown Williams of Mobile, Alabama. Aunts Lois (Haroun) Thabit, Mary Brown, Joann (Sam) Harris of Mobile, Alabama, Cassandra Thompson of Gautier, MS and Anglene Collins of Ocean Springs, MS. Uncles Larry Brown Birmingham, AL, Arroyo (Roxanne) Brown of Killeen, TX, Devoted- Lethel (Yolanda) Brown Jr, Freddie (Lottie Mae) Brown of Mobile, Alabama and Lambert (Nicki) Brown of Chesapeake, VA. Great Aunts Lue Ida McCloud of Alberta, Alabama, Cassandra Irby of Bridgeport, CT and Eva Mae Williams of Mobile, Alabama. Great Uncles Donald (Cathy) Irby of Alberta, AL and Roy Kennedy of Bridgeport, CT. Nephews Tylen Barney and Taylen Curtis. Nieces Terralyn Jackson and Ray’Ghan McConnell Williams. Lifelong God sent mentors Pastor Oliver and Carolyn Williams and a host of cousins, great niece, great nephews, family and friends.
