Obituary for Deloris D Coleman (Davis)

Mother Deloris Davis Coleman aka “Sista Coleman” was born November 3, 1947.
She was affectionately known in the family as her mother’s best child. She was a
lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. She graduated from Central High School
class of 1966. She went on to further her education at Alabama State University
graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education and Business in 1970.
The following year she accepted a position teaching at Sparta High School in
Sparta Georgia for 2 years. Mother Coleman returned to Mobile and began
working for the Mobile Housing Board for 37 years until her retirement in 2010.
Mother Coleman was a member of Fore Memorial Temple COGIC where she
received Christ as her Lord and personal Savior. She loved the Lord and her
mission was to bring her girls up in the admonition of the Lord. She served
faithfully as the Usher Board President for over 30 years. She also served on the
Mother’s Board and CWC.
Mother Coleman was preceded in death by her parents Booker T. and Ruby Agee
Davis and her niece Ruby Charlett Davis. She leaves to celebrate and cherish her
life, a loving husband James Edward Coleman, who celebrated their 49 th Wedding
Anniversary on June 8, 2023. Three devoted daughters Janet and Sharon
Coleman, Annette (McCloud) York, 4 grandsons McCloud III, Mitchell, Matthias,
and Myles York. Three sisters Sarah Crittenden, Ann Jackson, and Barbara
(Anthony) Lang. Three sisters in laws Arizia (Dannie) Williams, Theresa Odom, and
Ida Packer (IL). Two Brother in Laws Lawrence McFadden and Lloyd Willis. Two
nieces Jacqueline (Charles) Roberson (FL) and Amy Davis. Six nephews Lamar,
Nicholas, Damond, Anthony, Justin and Jamie Lang. Great niece Julie (Kenny)
Anderson, great nephews John Greggs Jr. and Gavin Roberson, a devoted lifelong
childhood friend (BFF) Mrs. Patricia King Wallace, a devoted God Daughter
Alexandria P. Wallace and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
