Obituary for Derrick Levon Mack

Derrick Levon Mack- (Hunter), born on July 13, 1955, a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama departed this life on April 28, 2020 at the young age of 64. Born to Johnnie Mae Hunter (Morris) and the late Mr. Willie Hunter Sr. He accepted Christ as his savior at a young age, baptizing at Revelation Missionary Baptist Church where he sustained his membership throughout his life. He transitioned through public school here in Mobile, Al., and was a proud graduate of Lillie B. Williamson High School, class of 1973. He played in the band and that gift allowed him to attend and obtain a Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama State University, graduating class of 1978. During his time there he pledged Omega Psi Phi fraternity chapter Gamma Sigma in the fall of 1975. He was a first-class painter for Huntington Ingalls Industries in Pascagoula, MS. for many years.

He is preceded in death by his father Willie Hunter Sr, brothers Willie Hunter Jr, Reginald Mack-Hunter, two sisters Genevieve Hunter, Charmel Powe, and stepdaughter LaTica Perkins.

He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his mother Johnnie Mae Hunter; wife Jacqueline (Jackie) Davis- Mack; one devoted daughter Daveda Mack ; two sons Derrick Williams and Justin Longmire; one step son Dorsett Perkins; four brothers Bruce (Deborah) Mack, Wayne (Evelyn) Mack-Hunter all of Mobile, Alabama, Sgt. Major Keith (Youlanda) Mack-Hunter of Atlanta, Georgia, and Anthony Mack-Hunter; two sisters, Cathy (Albert) Washington, of Mobile AL, Gina Johnson of Paterson, NJ; mother in law Delories Perkins; four sisters in law; two brothers in law; four grandchildren; five step grandchildren; one great grandchild; seven uncles; three aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
