Obituary for Derrick Eugene "Smoke" Rembert Sr.

Derrick E. Rembert, Sr. of Mobile, AL passed away on August 7, 2022. He will be remembered as a proud alumni member of John L. Leflore High School, graduating class of 1993, a beloved barber in the community that he loved and cherished, a DIEHARD Alabama football fan, and especially as “Pig”, aka “Smoke” to all who knew him.

Born in Detroit, MI, July 6, 1974 to the union of Derrick Eugene Jackson and Betty Jean Rembert, “Smoke” was preceded in death by his parents. His sister, Cynthia Rembert; his brother, Demonche Rosser; grandparents, Mary and Bennie Rembert; aunts, Willie Williams and Lucille Rembert; and uncles, Donald Grimes and Richard Howard.

He is survived by his loving and devoted life companion of 28 years, Tracy Richardson. His children, De’Wan Ayler, Ke’India Hunter, Derrick E. Rembert, Jr., LaMyia Banks, and Darilyn Richardson. His sisters, Victoria Johnson of Detroit, MI, Angela
Hall of Laredo, TX, and Mylisha Burns of McKeesport, PA. His grandchildren, Jeh’lani Ayler-Davis, Dylan Carter Harris, and
Dymir Collins Smith. His four aunts, Cathy Howard, Livia Clemons, Sabrina (Anthony) Davis, and Tashya Wells. His five
uncles, Joe Bennie Rembert, Cleophaus (Dessie) Grimes, Michael (Janet) Grimes, Bennie Grimes, and Charles Howard.
His four devoted cousins, Michelle Durgan, Mary K. Rembert, Amilia Pritchett, and Johnnie Rembert. Also a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, and friends, one devoted, Willie Davis.
