DeWayne McGrew, born November 24, 1969, fell into an eternal slumber in the early hours of Sunday, May 26, 2019 in Houston, Texas after a lengthy illness. Dewayne, affectionately known as “Wayne” or “Grew”, was born in Jackson, Alabama, and was the eldest of three sons born to Robert and Helen McGrew. He was a resident of Mobile, Alabama, where he grew up in the Crichton area and attended Shaw High School. During his senior year, he moved to Coffeeville, Alabama with his grandparents and graduated from Coffeeville High School in 1989. After completing high school, Wayne returned to Mobile where he attended Bishop State Community College, taking up auto mechanics, specializing in auto body art.

Wayne was an outgoing person with a thrill and a passion for life; he could often be found doing restorative work on cars, jet skiing, and throwing parties. He was a huge football fan, attending many of the New Orleans Saints football games. He hosted an annual Iron Bowl party in November where he could often be found rooting for the Auburn Tigers. While he had many passions and interests, he was most known for his love of motorcycles. He was a fan of the Harley Davidson bikes and was a faithful member of the 251 Thrill Seekers.

Despite his diagnosis, Wayne continued to live; even on his bad days, he still found a reason to smile. He was known to have a generous and giving heart, willing to give the next man a helping hand in any way he could. Wayne lived a long and full life with a rich and beautiful legacy. Though his time with us was cut tragically short, those he left behind have memories of him that will last them a lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dan and Lucy Mae Turner; Authur and Caldona McGrew, his aunt, Jessie Turner, Uncle Arthur McGrew, and a cousin, Marcus Norwood.

Wayne is survived by his loving and devoted wife, who fought tirelessly with him until the end, Darrius Walker-McGrew, 1 son, Timaeus Walker; 2 daughters, LaKenji Houson, and his precious little princess, Little Miss Bailey Elizabeth McGrew, all of Mobile, AL.
