Obituary for Don Ray Thompson

Don Ray Thompson was born January 9, 1954, and passed away on February 9, 2019. He was born to the late Ed Louis Thompson and Ollie Mae McGrew Thompson in Mobile, Alabama.
Don confessed Christ at an early age and attended church for many years while living in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church No. 2, where he was a member of the Male Chorus. Don was a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
Don was affectionately known as “Count”. He had an infectious smile and a colorful personality. To meet Don was to love him. He was kind and generous and would give you the shirt off of his back. Don lived life to the fullest and was always a joy to be around. He was a wonderful human being and he loved God.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. Ed Louis Thompson and Mr. William Love Horn and Ollie Thompson Horn, a son Tyrondrick Hart, brother; Willie Jackson, two sisters; Varda Jewel and Linda Faye. He is survived by his children, La-Kesha Cooper, Sergeant Major Katrina Clark, Don Ray Thompson, Jr., Dominique Thompson, Cornelius and Katelyn Thompson, and La Don Thompson; 13 grandchildren, brothers; Edward (Barbara) Thompson, Oliver (Constance) Thompson, Bishop Joe (Melonie) Thompson, William and Dewayne Thompson, sisters; Annie (Bishop Tyson) Johnson, Flora (Robert) Wooten, Patricia (Christopher) Johnson, Catherine Rhodes, Gloria Pearson, and Ella Lynch, uncles; Robert (Helen) McGrew, Isaac McGrew, C. P. Norwood, and Edward Norwood, aunts; Ola Mae Norwood, and Lillie Dailey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted; Jimmy Smith, Alfred and Mildred Austin, Lester Thomas, and Frances Thomas, and other relatives and friends.
