Obituary for Dorothy Jean Lang Trotter (Lang)

"SAFE IN HIS ARMS”

Dorothy Jean Lang Trotter, affectionately known as “Dors-Jean”, a resident of Mobile, AL, was born on September 8, 1952 to the union of the late Rev. Eural C. and Mary Ida Lang, Sr. She transitioned on February 18, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her sisters.

She was a 1970 graduate of Toulminville High School and continued her education at 20th Century College with a concentration in Business.

Dorothy confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she was an active member until her health failed. She was a regular attendee in Sunday School, and a faithful worker with the homeless ministry.

Having a flair and talent for fashion, she and her former husband, the late Lorenzo Trotter, opened and operated the “Sassy Lady Boutique” on Dauphin Street in Mobile for eight years. She retired from Dillard’s Department Store in Bel Air Mall after 19 years of service.

Dorothy will be sorely missed and loved by her devoted son, who made her so proud, Jahi Minkah Trotter, Lithia Springs, GA. She also leaves to cherish her memory and life ten siblings, Eula Mae Hamilton, Deloris Howze, Eural C. (Betty) Lang, Jr., Freddie (Terise) Lang, Fayetteville, GA., Anthony (Barbara) Lang, Barbara Lang, Larry (Michelle) Lang, Rialto, CA., Pastor Benjamin (Nadine) Lang, Lithia Springs, GA., Vera (Curtis) Perine, Jackson, AL., and Yolanda (Victor) Smith, Birmingham, AL.; two aunts, Gertrude Lang, Calvert, AL and Carrie Lang, Los Angeles, CA; a host of nieces, nephews, Taquilsa Rhodes (goddaughter), other relatives, friends and church family. Special thanks to her hospice nurse, Vanessa Power, with Comforts Care Home Health.
