Obituary for Dorothy Lee Wallace (Tillman)

Dorothy, born to the union of her parents, Robert and Gertrude Tillman on Monday, September 12, 1921 in Evergreen, AL. peacefully made her transition into her eternal life on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.


She was a graduate of Evergreen High School. Later in her life she met and married the love of her life, Joseph Wallace Jr. At the time of his death in October 2010,they were married for sixty-six years and blessed with two sons, Tyrone and Carl.

Dorothy was a beloved, devoted and longtime member of Greater Nazaree Missionary Baptist Church, serving well under all three Pastors; Reverend James Shelton, Founder; Dr. Joseph Blair, and the present Pastor, Dr. James A. Parrish Jr. She worked diligently and served with commitment in many capacities with the church. She was a Junior Department Sunday School Teacher, active member of the Prayer Band Ministry, Sunday School, BTU (Baptist Training Union), The Senior Ministry (God’s Golden Sonbeams) and the Missionary Department’s and Auxiliaries of the Senior Mission Ministry, Matrons Ministry, Red Circle & YWA Counselor, BTU Attendee. Sister Wallace is greatly missed. She was truly one of God’s sweetest saints, a kind person with a gentle giant of a spirit and who always displayed herself as the epitome of a lady. She was virtuous, her price was far above rubies. Her husband was happy and her children arise up and called her blessed and praised her also. . Strength and honor was her covering, and when she opened her mouth, her tongue was filled with wisdom, and the law of kindness.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, one son Tyrone, her Parents, Parental In-laws, a daughter-in-law, Annette Wallace, one Sister, Hazel Russell, nieces and nephews, Lillian Wilson, Gertrude Tillman, and Ronald Moseley.

Dorothy, leaves to cherish her precious memory, a son, Carl Wallace. Four grandchildren; Justine, Carla, Christopher, and Carlnetta. Five great grandchildren; Kayla Bivens, Ronald Wallace, Rashad Rabb, Rakim Rabb, and Kayla Schell. Two nieces, devoted, Henrientta Mosley-Jackson and Vicky Russell. Nephew, Reco (Olivia) Russell. Former daughter-in-law, Yvonne Wallace, and her parents, Ezell and Katherine Scott, and several other in-laws. A devoted spiritual daughter; Marsha Paige, and several loyal friends; Eliza Young, Rebecca McCants, Paulette Andrews, and Annie Pettway. Also many other great nieces, nephews, and church members who will always cherish the patience, sacrifice of her time and service to them.
