Obituary for Douglas Nickelson

Douglas D. " Bubba" Nickelson-- a native and resident of Mobile born June 18, 1929 departed this life Friday, October 31, 2008 at his residence. He was a member of Greater Morning Star Baptist Church. He dedicated forty years of service to J. F. Pate Construction Company. He was a member of Local 62 of the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dud and Lillie Mae Nickelson, two brothers, Clarence and Robert Lee Nickelson, sister, Lillie Bell Williams. He leaves to cherish his percious memories a loving and devoted wife of sixty-one years, Vacie Belle Nickelson, Mobile, eight children, Carolyn (Perry) Henderson, James Nickelson, both of Detroit, MI., Adria Bussey, Augusta, GA., Miles (Joyce) Nickelson, Nashville, TN., David Nickelson, Pensacola, FL., Earl (Ellen) Nickelson, Tampa, FL., Vaniese (Vincent) Scott, Dallas, TX., and Monica (John) Johnson, Atlanta, GA., seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, three sisters, Rosa Rambo, Mary Louise Montgomery and Shirley Ann Bell, three brothers, Ernest and Melvin Nickelson, all of Los Angeles, CA and Samuel Nickelson, Mobile. Special thank to Mid- Delta Hospice Staff, TaWanda Knight, Hilda Bryant and Vernon Moore. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 6, 2008 after 9am until the 11am funeral hour Greater Morning Star Baptist Church, Ronald O. McCree, pastor, Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Cemetery.
