Obituary for EDWARD COWAN, JR.

Mr. Edward "Bubba" Cowan, Jr., born March 30, 1945, Prichard, AL, traded this life for eternity on October 21, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by parents Elder Edward (Marie) Cowan, Sr.; his beloved daughter, Elizabeth Marie Cowan; brothers, Alex Cowan and Samuel Cowan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a 32 year retiree of Accordis (Courtaulds) Fibers, McIntosh, AL. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Zella Dortch Cowan; three sons, Edward (India) Cowan, III, Birmingham, AL; Timothy (Alicia) Cowan and Matthew C. Cowan, Mobile, AL; three sisters, Thelma Dickerson,, Joyce (Bozie) Hughes and Carlin Cobb, Mobile, AL; five brothers, Robert (Mattie) Cowan, Detroit, MI, Donald (Doris) Cowan, Ashville, NC; Alfred (Cynthia) Cowan, Carlos Cowan, and Moody (Bernice) Flemming, Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Yasmine Cowan and Edward Cowan, IV; mother-in-law, Josephine Elizabeth Dortch; brothers-in-laws, Goodman (Jackie) Dortch, Jr., Charles (Sylvia) Dortch, Maurice Dortch, Mobile, AL, Felicine (Deidria) Dortch, Augusta, SC and Darryl Harris, Lawton, OK; sisters-in-law, Juliette (Jack) Hallman, Columbus, GA, Mary Robinson, Peekskill, NY, Shirell Dortch, Ina Dortch, Carolyn (Lawrence) Rankins, Angelita (Darryl) Hickman, Mobile, AL and Audrey Dortch, Powder Springs, GA; a host of other relatives and friends. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary, 950 South Broad Street, Mobile, AL, Friday, October 29, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will be Saturday, October 30, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral hour at Pathway Ministries, 7200 Moffett Road, Mobile, AL, and the family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service. Pastors Joey Turman and Andric Daughtery, Officiating. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Theodore, AL.
