Obituary for Ella Rea Harris

Ella Rea Harris was the third of ten children born to the late James and Mary Patton on February 7, 1930, in Uniontown, AL. She was reared by her father after the untimely death of her mother when she was a pre-teen.

Ella was educated in the Perry County School System. She later moved to Mobile, AL, seeking employment to help support her younger siblings in Uniontown.

On January 21, 1950, Ella was united in holy matrimony to Percy Harris. From their union, God blessed them with three children: Juanita, Percy Jr. and Barbara Ann. She confessed Christ at an early age at the Shady Grove Baptist Church, Uniontown, AL. After moving to Mobile, She united with Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Harris was a very loving and dedicated wife of 70 years, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was involved in Sunday School, Mission Ministry, Choir and the Deaconess Board. She is very well known for her skilled sewing abilities and highly requested and vast culinary dishes.

She departed this life and transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Ashland Place Health and Rehabilitation. Ella was preceded in death by eight siblings: Willie (Mattie), Leola Milligan (Lewis James), Julia Mae Holmes (LD), Thomas (Ruthie), Coleman (Eula), Floyd (Argelean), Elnora Norwood, and Joseph Bennett.

Ella leaves a legacy to her three loving children: Juanita Moore (Calvin), Percy Harris Jr. (Tyna), and Barbara Ann Harris. Three grandchildren: Dr. Janeen Moore, Phillip Harris (Taylor), and Paeton Harris; one great grandchild: Naomi Harris. One brother: Samuel Patton (Pearl); one sister: Lola Gladden (William); two sisters-in-law: Mattie Bell James, Annie Bell Walker; one goddaughter: Saundra Tolbert; one godson: Eric McIntosh; a special nephew: Coleman Patton Jr.; a dear friend: Ruth McIntosh; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
