Obituary for Ellarnie Washington

Ellarnie Washington was born January 1, 1941 in Alma, Alabama to Limet and Ludie Washington. He was lovingly known as “Lonnie” to all his friends and family. He was called home on April 10, 2023.
Religion has always been a big part of Ellarnie’s life. In fact, he confessed Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age. In his latter years, He converted to Catholicism. He joined Our Savior Catholic Church and was a loyal and faithful servant until his passing.
He graduated from Harper High School and later studied at Alabama A&M University. He began his career as a lab technician for Kaiser Aluminum and later at International Paper Company. He eventually retired at Kaiser Aluminum with 33 years of service.
Ellarnie resided in Mobile, Alabama where he met and married Erielene Powe-Washington for 31 years. He was a wonderful father and took pride in taking care of his family. As a young man, his favorite pastime was hunting and fishing. In his later years, you could find him at home watching baseball and football. Lonnie had a loving and humble spirit that will truly be missed by all.
Ellarnie was preceded in death by his parents Limet and Ludie Washington; one sister Ardella Washington-Agnew; five brothers: Lester, Limet Jr., Booker T., Clarence, and Jimmy Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memories two children Hiram (LaTonya) Washington and Kim Washington-Goldsmith both of Mobile, Alabama; two grandchildren Hayley Washington of Mobile, Alabama and Terrance Goldsmith Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters Bessie Washington-Harbin of Mobile, Alabama and Beatrice (Charles) Washington-May of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one devoted friend Sam Watson; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
