Sunrise: August 8, 1951 – Sunset: January 15, 2020
Fetcher Alexander Johnson departed his earthly life and made his transition to the eternal realm on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at the Providence- Covenant Hospice Center.
Fletcher gave his life to Christ as a child under the guidance of Reverend Crenshaw of Starlight Baptist Church. He was baptized in Gunnison Creek to solidify his commitment to Christ. He was administered the Salvation Prayer during this final days, and again accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Fletcher leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Eric Alexander Johnson of San Antonio Texas and Robert Johnson an Taurus Law of Jacksonville Florida, one daughter, Sheria Johnson- Freeman of Tennessee; fifteen grand children; one great son; three brothers; Ernest Johnson, Roosevelt (Pamela) Johnson, Reginald, (Patersa) Johnson all of whom reside in Houston, Texas; two sisters, Viola (LaVert) Shaw of Chicago, IL, Shirley (John) Young of Houston, Texas, four nieces whom he adored, Rosie Johnson-Morrissette, of Mobile, Al; Veronica Shaw-White of Chicago, IL, and Jamille Johnson-Dotch of Semmes, AL; Darcell (Jeffery) Shaw of Atlanta, GA; nephews, Chicory Y. Johnson of Satsuma, Al, Daryl Johnson of Detroit, Jeffery Shaw of Atlanta, GA, Roosevelt Tremel, and Rawlin Johnson of Houston, TX, Reggie Sayles of San Antonio, TX; Phillip and Patrick Johnson of Texas, and his first wife, LaDean Tolliver-Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida.
Fletcher attended Cleveland Elementary School, Mobile County Training School, and graduated from Nelson Adams High school in Saraland, Alabama. Immediately after high school Fletcher joined the United States Army, and served as a Para-trooper during Viet Nam War. After completing his tour of duty with the Army, he joined in the U.S. Navy and served as a Culinary Arts Specialist.
During his time in the United States Armed Forces (Army and Navy), Fletcher received the following medals:
Vietnam Service Medal;
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Award;
Parachute Badge;
Navy Achievement Medal;
Four (4) Good Conduct Medals;
National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star;
Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with three (3) Bronze Stars.
Fletcher completed a total of twenty-three years of military service to this country. Service above self. May you rest in heavenly Peace.
Fletcher was preceded into eternity by his wife Brenda Johnson, his parents Mr. & Mrs. Ernest and Rosemary Johnson, two brothers, Jimmie and Melvin, two sisters, Rosetta and Irma, and very close and devoted Uncle, Deacon Isaac Burden.
