Gloria Ann Ward began her earthly journey as Gloria Ann English 78 years ago on July 9, 1942 in Plateau, AL. She was the first born of Edward and Ellena English. She peacefully transitioned from life to eternal joy to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, April 2, 2021.
At an early age Gloria accepted Christ and was baptized at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Plateau, AL. Gloria and her siblings grew up in the church.
At the age of 16 years old Gloria graduated high school. After graduating high school Gloria attended Alabama State Teachers College now known as Bishop State Community College. She majored in English.
In 1960, Gloria married Isadore Clark II and later gave birth to two children Stephanie and Marcine Clark.
Years later, May 8, 1982, Gloria married the love of her life Donald Ward. They truly adored each other. They practically spent 24 hours together They were employed together, they attended AAA meetings together, went to the Gym together and traveled together. They were inseparable. Gloria and Donald started the drug treatment program at Limestone Correctional Facility near Huntsville, AL in 1997. They taught about service, integrity, and unity.
In 2005, Gloria Ward retired from Limestone Correctional Facility as head drug treatment counselor. Gloria was a mentor to many people. She believed strongly in helping others.
Gloria was preceded by mother Ellena D. English,father Edward C. English Sr., sister Etta M. Young, sister Gwendolyn Pendleton, brother Edward C. English jr., husband Donald D. Ward.
She leaves behind a great legacy and memories that will be cherished by her two sisters Yuvonne(Darryl) Brazier and Brenda(Harry) Balbuena, daughter Stephanie Sneed, son Marcine Clark, seven grandchildren; Markita Graham, Michael(Kera) Hall, Jonathan Barnes, Faith Kennedy, Danielle Clark, Alisha Clark, Elisha Clark, adoring great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, a host supportive in-laws and loving friends.
