Obituary for Hazel Elizabeth Curtis (Curtis)

Hazel Elizabeth Curtis, a native of Mobile, AL was
born on January 4, 1952 to Herman Lee, Sr. and Lula
Curtis. She departed this life unexpectedly on Monday, May 9,
2022 at her residence.
Hazel was a proud graduate of Central High School Class of 1970.
She pursued her career as a Class-A Welder for twenty-seven
years, from which she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Lee, Sr. and
Lula Curtis; sister, Ida Patrick; brother, Herman Lee, Jr.; nephew,
Onyonski “Cha” Perryman; and two devoted friends: Jeanette
“Hank” Smith and Ercell “Lank” Manuel, Sr.
Hazel leaves to cherish a very loving and devoted family, two
daughters: Hermanski (Douglas) Curtis-McGrew and Ursula
(Benjamin) Curtis-McCreary; five grandchildren: Dougasian,
D’Eros, and Da’Jirreyon McGrew, Shunnirreyon Pippins and Brin-
lyn McCreary; four great-grandchildren: DaKristian McGrew,
Jalayjia McGrew, Ivy Phillips and Dougasian McGrew, Jr.; three
sisters: Belinda (William) Perryman, Arleen (Johnny Sr.) Phillips
and Lula (Bernard) Jones; sister-in-law, Brenda Curtis; one uncle,
Willie “Busta” Johnson; devoted nephews, Kalinski Mickles and
Johnny Phillips, Jr.; a host of devoted nieces, great-nieces and
great-nephews; godchildren: Yolanda Smith-Johnson, Terry Smith
and Destiny Manuel; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends;
devoted friends: Diane Mack, Cheryl Casher, Barbara “Bobbi Jo”
Lane, Rose King, Ada Moore, Marilyn Wilson, Leanna Young
Coaxum, Lorraine and Phyllis Rembert, Willamenia “Tiny”
Hawkins and Loretta Manuel Williams.
