Obituary for Howard Rivers Sr.

Howard Lelande Rivers, Sr. - a native Mobilian and a resident of Los Angeles, CA, born February 22, 1947, departed this life peacefully Sunday, July 1, 2007 in Lomita, CA. A 1965 graduate of Williamson High School and a '69 graduate of Alabama A&M. He was a career educator of the Chicago IL School System, and an entrepreneur in California, an avid jazz and sports fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Ellen Rivers, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories three children, Howard (Kathryn) Rivers, Jr., Clear Brook, VA., Krystal (Alaric) Rivers-Ludgood, Mobile and Jeremy Rivers, Chicago, IL; two grands, Howard Pierce and Kaylie Ryan Rivers, three siblings, Olivia Henderson- Patterson, and Leroy (Edrice) Rivers, Mobile and Walter Rivers, Jr., Los Angeles, CA. nephews and nieces, Nathaniel Patterson, Jr., Los Angeles, CA, Nadine Patterson-Brown and Gregory (Carmen) Patterson, all of Decatur, GA. and Brian Rivers, Sr., Mobile, other relatives and friends. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary, Tuesday, July 10, 2007 from 1-8pm and Wednesday, July 11, 2007 after 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Bethel A.M.E Church, 714 Savannah St. Rev. Bobby Cox, Jr. pastor, Rev Clinton L. Johnson officiating minister. Interment in Gethsemane Cemetery, Mobile. Dignified and professional services are entrusted to SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 S. Broad St, Mobile, AL
