Obituary for Ida M Montgomery

Ida Mae (Presley) Montgomery was born April 11, 1932 to the unity of the late Grealie and
Georgia Presley of Bayou La Batre, Alabama.
Mrs. Montgomery was a strong, courageous, God-fearing woman who devoted her life to
caring for her family and others throughout the community. After 42 years as a
bookkeeper at Dixon Elementary School, she retired from the Mobile County Public School
System.
Mrs. Montgomery was an angel on Earth who finally gained her wings on August 26, 2018.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Montgomery; parents, Grealie and
Georgia Presley; brothers, Claude Lee and Earl Presley; sister, Delores West.
To earth, she leaves her three sons, Carlos (Mary) Montgomery; Barry (Jennie)
Montgomery; Reverend Christopher (Sherita) Montgomery; two daughters, Brenda
(Samuel) Hartzog; Michelle (Terence) Manzy; two brothers, Reverend Lawrence Edward
(Jewel) Presley; Melvin Presley; two sisters, Gloria Johnson and Geraldine Pope; eleven
grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, a devoted brother-in-law, Richard Montgomery; a
devoted nephew and niece, Reverend Gregory West and Yulanda Clinton; a host of other
relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at Highpoint Baptist Church, 2421 Lott Road, Eight Mile,
AL. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.. Visitation hours will be held from
9:00a.m. until the service begins. The family will fellowship with friends beginning at
10:00a.m.. Arrangements are entrusted to Small’s Mortuary and Cremation Services.
Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Bayou La Batre, AL.
