Obituary for Imogene Roberts Howard (Roberts)

Imogene Roberts Howard “a twin” was born
August 9, 1928 in Fairfield, Alabama to the union
of Benjamin and Nellie Roberts. She departed this
earthly life Sunday, July 17, 2022.
Mrs. Howard attended Ella Grant, Mobile County
Training High School, Talladega College and
Alabama State University where she earned a
Bachelors and Masters Degree. As an educator in

the Mobile County Public School System for thirty-
nine years. She was a dedicated educator and she had a profound effect

on many students. She was a Reading Specialist at Ella Grant, Grand
Bay and Saraland Elementary Schools.
A lifelong dedicated member of Mount Olive
A.M.E. Zion Church, Mrs. Howard served various
ministries and capacities including Deaconess
Board, Missionary Society and Sunday School
Teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin
and Nellie Roberts; husband, James A. Howard;
daughter, Wendy H. Williams; and siblings: Leon,
Cleon, Leslie, Eugene (her twin) Roberts and
Frances R. Willis; her grandson, Kedran Howard;
and her great-granddaughter, Daniela Cinnamon Marie Howard.
Mrs. Howard leaves to cherish her precious
memories, her twin sons: Leslie (Janicy) Howard
and Wesley (Pamela) Howard; her sister, Olivia
Roberts Cauthen; grandchildren: Janiera (Tony)
Simmons, Leslie Jr., Kennedy, Sydney and Jaden
Howard; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law,
Sybil H. Runderson; a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, other relatives and friends.
